20 May 2019 – This week the main outputs of the DIABOLO project are presented at the international conference: “A century of national forest inventories – informing past, present and future decisions”, near Oslo, Norway. Organised by the Norwegian Institute for the Bioeconomy (NIBIO), the conference brings together leading scientists in the field of forest inventory and forest monitoring. 21 February 2019, Brussels. The Helsinki EU Office kindly hosted the Horizon 2020 DIABOLO Project Policy Workshop. Up to 30 decision makers from European organisations including the Commission DGs related to forestry and the environment met to discuss “Experiences and ideas from the Horizon 2020 project DIABOLO – How to utilise novel forest information and scenarios in EU Policy Making?” This Science to Policy Event was hosted by the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). In collaboration with the Finnish NFI and FAO-UNECE, this three-day event examines Day 1: the role  the NFI in decision making in Finland and what lies ahead for NFI in Finland. Day 2: DIABOLO discusses serving the needs of European policy making and improved monitoring and outlooks concluding with a shared roadmap for forest information for European bioeconomy outlooks of the future. Venue and practicalities:

The event is held in the heart of Koli National Park, in eastern Finland. There are a number of direct flight connections daily from Helsinki to Joensuu, and we offer a bus transport from the Joensuu airport to Koli National Park (app. 50 minutes’ drive).

1 June, 2017 The H2020 project DIABOLO was invited to the European Commission workshop on “Climate Action in Agriculture and Forestry” to present its contribution to climate-smart land-use policy and best practices.
